what am I getting my self into...

I was HARASSED today into doing hula classes today over the summer break for the kids! haha Thanks AMY! ;) JK Her girls have been in hula classes for a few years now, and love it to death. They've been asking me to teach them some new dances then today I finally agreed. I've been planning it all day long and getting really excited and stressed about it. I can feel my stomach curl. I have So much going on this summer, but I think it will definitely spice up my Summer.

So this is what I have in mind....
  • 4 dances; a Samoan, Hawaiian, Tahitian, and Maori. a total of at least 10 one hour sessions twice a week Tuesdays and Thursdays (might need more) CD included. 50$
  • 4 different costumes hand made by me, true to the type of dance , and the girls get to keep them 50$
  • and a back to school Polynesian Luau for family and close friends, entertainment provided by the girls in maybe mid august
  • and if the girls have any brothers that would like to learn the Haka and Pou Tele they sign up free! -costume included!
  • and I want to give them t-shirts with our Logo, you like ;) (can't imagine my life w/out PShop)

I don't know! What do you guys think? any suggestions? What have your girls done in their hula classes that you did or didn't like?
I was thinking if I get ten girls we will have 1000 dollars to make costumes and throw a fabulous Polynesian Luau. But is that too much to charge?

I think it's great. You should charge monthly. Like 25-30 bucks a month. Have them pay you 50 bucks to make the costume and let them keep it. I'm so excited for you Tala, you'll be great!! :)

Yeah I think so too... 50 bucks for a month and a half, I guess isn't bad... Me and Kel were thinking, if you guys aren't too busy around that time, you guys should come down and have the girls do a few numbers?!?!? We'd love to have you guys!

It's a great idea. :) Another wife and I were going to start a hula/tahitian class here in Miami as well.. get all these players to sign their kids up so we can throw a Dolphin's luau. LOL. Plus I miss dancing and since I'm retired now (hahaha) I guess we should teach right?

I think the 25-30 a month is good too, especially for 10 classes a week? Did I read that right?

It will be wonderful.

Good job Tala. I'm so glad you and from reading Kassie's post are both sharing your talents. $50 a month is a reasonable price, because we pay $25 a month for only 4 classes a month. So $50 is fair enough. Sounds like you got it all thought out, just get to work..LOL j/k. And even better, it's a great workout for you. You should do a solo and have Kel dance with you like at your wedding. Cute!
