I made a bunch of these for Christmas gifts. And I just made one today for a friend at work that is getting married in a couple of weeks. It is soooo easy to do, and super cheap.
Pricing:
- Glass Block: $4.00 at Lowe's or home depot
- Scrapbook paper $.60, they are always on sale at Roberts
- Mod podge: 10.00 for a 16 oz bottle at Michaels, Roberts, or Wal Mart(lasts all year)
- Wood Chip letters: $3.00 at Michaels
- Raffia: $5.00 for a bib bag (can use for all sorts of things)
if ya add all that up, it is sort of pricey, but once you have all these things, you can make a bunch of them. Keep going, I'll walk you through how to do them...
First you will start out with all these supplies, glass block, mod podge, scrapbook paper, paint brush, raffia, pen, scissors, black marker
Turn the scrapbook paper and wood chips right side down, trace with pen, then cut out letters

Then mod podge the paper and wood chips together

Place the letters on the block and rearrange them however you like... then mod podge them to the glass. If you mess up and stick it too high or too low, just wait for it to dry then pull it off

footnote: if you use paper that has smaller designs, it looks better...

That's too much work for me. Can you just make me one just because?? lol You are so creative Tala. You should start a creative blog. I love creative blogs that show pictures and take you through it step by step. Oh and I love when the project is simple, yet beautiful. Think about it. Love ya
These are so fun to make. If you're ever in salt lake, there is a warehouse that sells the glass blocks in 3 dozen different sizes from small to HUGE. We made a big block which was like 24inc x 2 inch for our wedding and drilled a slot into it for our cards to go in and then put the letters on the front. The glass blocks are so cheap and I think we paid around $1.50 for smaller ones and the huge block was only $8. I like the wood letter idea.. super cute. Another idea is wrapping different ribbon around the block..
I'll get you a block that will fit Motuliki on it :)
LOL cia! it's NOT! and you bet I'll make you one just because... just because it took me so long to send your retainer! LOL i hope it still fits :))) but yeah, I'm definately thinking seriously about starting one... but then I know it would take more time, and all of this is taking enough as it is... lol... thinking about selling my own scrapbook kits online... then maybe i'll start another blog...
